Meet Kylie Barbour

Welcome Kylie Barbour to the team at Dr. Novikov Wellness & Skin Care as our newest scribe and medical assistant.

A lifelong Worcester resident, Kylie joined the practice to continue building her clinical skills while learning alongside experienced physician assistants.

“I wanted to continue to grow my clinical skills in a new setting while gaining close mentorship with professionals in the field,” she said. “Having the opportunity to work closely with physician assistants and travel to different facilities allows me to work with different patient populations and strengthen my understanding of healthcare overall.”

Kylie graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Allied Health Sciences and a minor in Molecular and Cell Biology. Her passion for medicine grew through studying how genetics, environment, and lifestyle all influence health. This reinforced her interest in a more holistic, individualized approach to patient care.

Why she chose this path

What drew Kylie to the scribe program was the opportunity to learn through direct mentorship and hands-on experience.

I learn something new every single day,” she said. “I have the opportunity to ask questions in real time, both in wound care and in medicine overall.”

Although wound care is new to her, Kylie has enjoyed the challenge of learning a specialized field. From understanding wound terminology to documenting busy clinic days with accuracy, she’s embraced the fast-paced environment. She continues to build her knowledge with every patient encounter.

“Learning about the different types of wounds, wound beds, and treatments has been really fascinating to me,” she said. “As I’m getting more familiar, I’m gaining a better understanding of terminology and what types of treatments are used most commonly for each type of wound.”

Kylie hopes to gain more experience interacting with patients, deepen her understanding of wound healing, and learn how strong provider-patient relationships are built.

“I hope to have the opportunity to gain more hands-on experience interacting with patients and observing the relationship between our providers and patients,” she said. “I want to leave with a greater understanding of the healthcare system as a whole,” Kylie said.

She plans to continue her education by attending physician assistant school and building a career centered on compassionate, patient-focused care.

Fun Fact

Outside of work, Kylie enjoys spending time in the kitchen.

“I enjoy all types of baking and cooking, and have recently started making homemade sourdough,” she said.
