Patients will see a new face at Dr. Novikov Wellness and Skin Care. We welcome Connie Cao as one of our new scribes and practice assistants. She grew up in Los Angeles, California and completed her undergrad studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
“We take pride in educating the next generation of healthcare professionals, said Dr. Mikhail Novikov. “Over the years, we have worked to develop our gap year scribe education program. We provide college graduates of pre-health majors an immersive and comprehensive experience in wound care, skincare and beyond.”
The gap year students double as both provider scribes and practice assistants in the office. This gives them the opportunity to work one-on-one with physicians and physician assistants and receive experience with hands-on patient care. In addition, they learn the basics of business and administration within the scope of healthcare. They take their knowledge of wound care and experience with them as they pursue their careers in healthcare.
For example, previous gap year students have moved on to become physician assistants, nurse practitioners, doctors of osteopathic medicine , and doctors of allopathic medicine.
Connie has always wanted to be involved in healthcare. Her involvement in her former research lab, ECLS Lab at the University of Michigan, sparked her interest in becoming a physician.
She is excited about her new positions as scribe and practice assistant.
“I hope to gain valuable insights from my clinical encounters, while simultaneously contributing to the clinic’s commitment to delivering exceptional patient care,” she said.
In her free time, she likes to explore new things.
“Anything from trying new foods, skincare products, new recipes,” she said. “Anything different from my usual routine.”
Help us give a big New England welcome to Connie Cao!
