Dr. Novikov Shares His Vision for Wound Care: Q&A Session

At Dr. Novikov Wellness and Skin Care, we’re dedicated to offering personalized and patient-centered care. We are sharing a Q&A session with our CEO and Medical Director, Dr. Mikhail Novikov. He comments on his journey, goals, and vision for the future of wound care.

Why did you open your own practice vs. staying with a big wound care business?

“Opening an independent practice gave us the opportunity to focus on a more personalized, patient-centered approach. While working with larger wound care businesses like VOHRA, Healogics, and Baystate Wound Clinic provided, I gained valuable experience. I wanted to develop a more hands-on, preventive care model. By operating independently, we can ensure each patient receives individualized attention, which has always been important to me. This autonomy allows us to implement the most effective treatments tailored to our patients, without the constraints of a larger system.”

What are your long-term goals for your wound care practice?

“Our long-term goal is to expand access to high-quality wound care while maintaining the personalized, results-driven approach we are known for. We want to continue to innovate, integrating the latest technologies and techniques to improve healing rates. Additionally, I see education as a key part of our future—empowering patients and healthcare providers with knowledge so we can together reduce wound-related complications.”

Do you plan on expanding your services to other areas, and why are you offering educational programs for nursing staff?

“Yes, expanding services is definitely part of the plan. There are many underserved areas where patients don’t have access to specialized wound care, and we want to bridge that gap. Offering educational programs for nursing staff is part of this mission. Nurses play a critical role in wound care management. By equipping them with advanced skills, we’re able to extend the reach of proper wound care beyond our practice. This ensures better outcomes for more patients.”

How do you see your practice evolving in response to the changing needs of wound care patients?

“Wound care is evolving rapidly, with new technologies and treatments emerging all the time. Our practice will continue to adapt by staying at the forefront of these advancements, whether it’s through improved diagnostic tools or cutting-edge treatments. I also believe that telemedicine will play an even bigger role. This will allow us to monitor and treat patients remotely, ensuring they receive the care they need no matter where they are.”
