Local nursing facility Sudbury Pines Wound Care Nurse Mauricio Lyrio, LPN, has much praise for the wound care team of Dr. Novikov Wellness and Skin Care, who provides bedside care to patients. He describes the team as confident, dedicated and patient.
“I cannot say enough about their great work,” he said. “All the providers are so very professional. When a patient is admitted with a wound-whether vascular, pressure, post-surgical- requiring treatments of local dressings to wound VAC dressings, we consult the wound team for their expertise in treating and healing these wounds. Dermatological conditions can also be managed by the team, such as dermatitis, psoriasis, and other skin conditions.”
Mauricio said “consistency is key” to wound healing as is building relationships with the staff and patients. The provider’s weekly visits promote quick wound healing and help to avoid infections.
“With the right treatment and care, wounds heal faster,” he said. “They demonstrate wound care knowledge and infection control when performing wound debridement, removing skin cancer lesions at bedside, and recommending treatments to expedite wound healing.”
Mauricio has worked at different nursing facilities with different providers.
“You notice the differences,” he said. “Dr. Novikov’s team has more compassion with patients and bedside manners. It’s amazing how polite they are.”
Another bonus of doing rounds with Dr. Novikov is the education piece.
“Dr. Novikov teaches step by step – how to best care for the wound, the purpose of debridement and treatment, and what to do in between their visits,” said Mauricio. “It is just like sitting in a classroom. There are a lot of good outcomes when he is involved. The education piece is so beneficial for all of our nurses. It’s a pleasure to work with their wound program.”
