Summer is just beginning and our July newsletter includes some reminders, some introductions, and some tips.

July is UV Awareness Month
If you need a reminder to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays, here it is! Ultraviolet (UV) exposure is the leading cause of skin cancer, but it is also one of the most preventable. Wearing sunscreen, protective clothing, and seeking shade during peak hours can help reduce your risk. Don’t forget to book your annual skin check too.

Welcome to our new scribe Brianna O’Neill
Brianna O’Neill joined our scribe team with a strong foundation in biology and a clear goal: to pursue a career in healthcare. She grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts, alongside her three older brothers. Her interest in medicine began in high school while taking advanced science courses. She continued to grow that interest at UMass Amherst, where she majored in biology. (Fun Fact: Brianna played for the UMass Women’s Hockey Team.) Read more.

Welcome Liv Fitzpatrick to our team
We are also excited to introduce Liv Fitzpatrick, our new practice scribe. She brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and a passion for patient-centered care to our practice. Learn more about what brought her to the practice.

Tip of the month
Protect your feet this summer. If you have diabetes or neuropathy, skip the flip-flops and open-toed shoes. These conditions reduce sensation, which means you might not feel a cut, blister, or burn until it becomes serious. Always wear well-fitting, closed-toe shoes (even in warm weather) and check your feet daily for any signs of injury or infection. Tips like these are discussed in our social media videos. Follow us on Facebook.
