Liv Fitzpatrick – our newest practice scribe

We are excited to introduce Liv Fitzpatrick, our new practice scribe. She brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and a passion for patient-centered care to our practice.

Liv grew up in Bourne, Massachusetts, and graduated from the University of Maine with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Neuroscience. After college, she set out to find a role that would offer real-world medical experience. She didn’t want just any job, but one that would help her grow as a future healthcare provider. The medical scribe position at Dr. Novikov Wellness and Skin Care stood out immediately.

“Not only do I get hands-on experience documenting patient care,” Liv explains, “but this program offers education, interview preparation, and resume workshops. It’s like a pre-med boot camp. I get a front-row seat to what the different roles in medicine really look like.”

Since starting her role, Liv has immersed herself in adjusting to the fast pace of medical documentation. She says it is a whole new language. She finds wound care “absolutely fascinating.”

“There’s a big learning curve when trying to keep up with clinical terminology, patient histories, and treatment plans,” Liv said. “But what really caught me off guard was the emotional side of the job. You see a lot of people in pain–physically and emotionally–and that stays with you. It pushes you to not just learn the science, but grow as a more empathetic, patient-centered future provider.”

Learning from the practice physician assistants has also given Liv insights into their day to day roles.

“It feels like a live, interactive class everyday and I can’t get enough of it,” she said. “I’ve been especially inspired by how the providers interact with the patients. They take the time to make people feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for–something I think is too often missing in today’s healthcare system.”

There’s also an administrative side to the role, which she has also enjoyed learning.

“It’s shown me how much work goes on behind the scenes to keep a practice running smoothly,” said Liv. “It feels good knowing that, even behind the scenes, our work helps move that mission forward.”

Through this experience, Liv hopes to sharpen her attention to detail, deepen her understanding of holistic medicine, and prepare for medical school. Ultimately, she hopes to use her skills to serve on future medical mission trips, building on her life-changing experience in Kenya in 2023.

Welcome Liv Fitzpatrick to our team.
