Juliana Vinkels has joined the practice as our newest Scribe/Practice Assistant. She attended the University of Alabama and earned her degree in Public Health with a concentration in health professions. She is eager to immerse herself in the medical field while considering her next steps.
Her first month has been busy.
“It’s been a whirlwind in the best way possible,” she said. “There is always something new to be learning and I love the challenge. I really enjoyed being a student. Now as a scribe/practice assistant it feels like I’m back in the classroom again, but with the invaluable addition of hands-on experience.”
She was drawn to the position because it was within a smaller practice.
“I immediately knew it would allow for a stronger bond between coworkers, which in turn would provide the supportive work/team environment that I was seeking,” Juliana said. “I’ve also been surrounded by a tight knit group of extremely knowledgeable and compassionate individuals. They have been instrumental in my growth so far and have made me feel comfortable.
The experience of observing and learning about minor surgical procedures, such as excisions has been a highpoint so far.
“Every aspect of it has fascinated me and reinforced my appreciation for the beauty of medicine,” said Juliana. “Witnessing certain patients undergo these procedures and emerge cancer-free was incredibly rewarding.”
Outside of her role at the practice, Juliana dedicates time to lifting at the gym, running with close friends, staying involved in her church and delving into her creative writing passion.
Another fun fact about Juliana Vinkels is that she was accepted into the Boston Ballet program at age 13 and a few years later was named an all-star athlete for track and field at age 16.
