Wound Care Seminar Takeaways: ‘A Good Foundation’

Wound Care Seminar Takeaways: ‘A Good Foundation’

Have you taken our wound care seminar? At Dr. Novikov Wellness and Skin Care, we believe that education is key to improving patient outcomes—especially in long-term care settings. That’s why we offer wound care seminars for facility staff. We recently hosted a seminar and here is what participants are saying!

Brenda O’Neil, LPN, has been a Charge Nurse (currently serving as interim Unit Manager) at Salmon Health Northborough for the past 10 years. Recently, she participated in Dr. Novikov’s How to Revolutionize Wound Care in Your Facility, a 3-hour educational course.

“I am very interested in wound care,” said Brenda. “I am fascinated in how a wound can be healed with proper care.”

She described the seminar as informative and highlighted several takeaways that she will apply in her role.

“The thing that stuck in my head was how to treat a wound: if it’s wet, dry it; and if it’s dry, wet it. I also never knew there were so many types of dressings,” she noted.

Brenda emphasized how the seminar expanded her approach to both wound prevention and treatment. “This seminar taught me different ways to prevent wounds, as well as how to treat a wound, instead of just using the typical dressing and hoping that it works and the wound doesn’t worsen. It also helped me know when to call the Wound Team in.”

She would recommend the training to other long-term facility healthcare staff.

“I would highly recommend this training,” she said. “I think it’s a good foundation to have when treating and preventing wounds.”
