From scribe and practice assistant to medical school

Ellen Choe made a lasting impact during her two years as our scribe and practice assistant and is now taking her next steps from scribe to medical school. Ellen demonstrated leadership, compassion, and a deep commitment to clinical excellence.

“In my 2 years at this practice, I learned how to be a leader,” she said. “Taking responsibility for the scribe team and training new scribes gave me skills that I will take with me to everything I do in the future.”

From mastering complex documentation in surgical dermatology and wound care to building confidence in patient interactions, Ellen credits the experience with shaping her path forward.

“I learned how to be an effective communicator with both patients and peers,” she said. “I also gained confidence in myself and my clinical skills.”

Being part of a fast-paced, innovation-driven practice required flexibility and growth.

“The biggest challenge in this role is the need to always be evolving and growing,” said Ellen. “A small practice like this thrives on innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset, which can be an adjustment!”

Ellen is now applying to medical school with the goal of becoming a pediatrician. We have no doubt she’ll bring the same drive and compassion to her next chapter. She credits this experience with helping her understand the roles of various healthcare providers and what defines truly exceptional care.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better experience to prepare me for my future role as a physician and in my career in general,” said Ellen. “This company is a really great place to grow.”

Her advice to a future scribe and practice assistant?

“There is so much to learn—clinically and from the team here,” she said. “Soak up as much as you can and really be open to learning and growing! This team really is the best.”
