Facility says ‘healing outcomes are important’

Wound healing outcomes are important to a nursing facility. Assistant Director of Nursing Vicky M, R.N.. at Brookside Rehab has attended wound rounds with providers from Dr. Novikov Wellness and Skin Care for about 1 ½ years. The facility has patients with a variety of wounds.

Vicky cited a few of the benefits of having the provider team on site for their patients.

“One benefit is having someone bring their specialty to look at the wound, make a proper diagnosis, and make suggestions and recommendations,” she said. “It really helps with wound healing.”

Healing outcomes are important to Vicky.

“We try to catch them [wounds] quickly before they turn into something bad,” Vicky said. “They are resolved very quickly.”

Additionally, communication with the providers is excellent.

“All three providers are absolutely wonderful and very friendly,” Vicky said. “I can text them for anything and always receive a quick response. They are happy to educate me so in turn I can educate other nurses on the floor.”

Good communication also happens between the providers and those residents who are alert and oriented.

“The providers explain everything that is going on and they listen to the residents,” Vicky said.

In addition to the wound care knowledge the providers bring to the facility, Vicky noted how accommodating and punctual the providers are.
