The patient is a T12 paraplegic and is subject to skin breakdowns due to being in a wheelchair and not being able to feel anything below T12. A skin ulcer may not be detected until it gets to the point of needing medical attention.

“Each time something happens, it is a long recovery like 4-6 months or longer,” he said. “It’s a very slow healing process because there is little circulation in the legs.”

The patient has seen Dr. Novikov on several occasions.

“I wouldn’t keep going back if I felt there was a better option,” he said. “Dr. Novikov is very professional from start to finish. The staff is very good and very friendly; they all get along well and fill in for one another. It’s a competent practice.”

The patient was also appreciative of the help the staff gave him to get the supplies he needed and navigate it through the Medicare and Medicaid system for payment.
